Measurement of Grip strength
Instrument used: Jamar Hand held dynamometerArm position
- In sitting
- Shoulder adducted and neutrally rotated
- Elbow 90 degrees flexion
- Forearm and wrist in neutral position
Placement of dynamometer

The handle of the dynamometer will be adjusted
properly.

The base of the dynamometer should rest on first
metacarpal and the handle should rest on middle of four fingers
Dynamometer Calibration:
This instrument is calibrated at the factory by loading it at the center with weight and making appropriate adjustments in the gauge. (From Jamar instruction manual)
Before each measurement:
Rotate the needle counter-clockwise to 0 after each measurement
Recording of measurement:
The peak hold needle will automatically record the highest force the person has exerted
Measurement of forearm circumference
Placement of measuring tape:
2 fingers spacing away from the elbow crease, based on each individual. Ensure that the tape is not too tight or too loose and is lying flat on the skin.
